| Description |
English: Round bales and strip. High arable land, 250m. The field to the east of the sheltering strip is dotted with round bales. Only the outer layer gets wet and spoilt, so it's possible to leave them out over winter. Despite the altitude there is plenty of arable land here, north of the Southern Uplands the land here enjoys fertility from the lime rich rocks of some parts of the Midlothian Plateau. Infertile soils abound too and can be recognised by wet moorland. |
