English: Engraving of Rus' soldier from the Ukraine region by Cesare Vecellio. This version is a modified (1860) version of the original published in 1589.
Українська: Зображення узагальненого образу руського мужа в 1589 р. увійшло до одного з перших у своєму жанрі каталогів «Давньої і сучасної одежі з усього світу» венеціянця Чезаре Вечелло. Підпис до зображення був такий:
«Русь має кордони з московитами, лівонцями та литовцями. Провінції ці між собою часто воюють... Руські мужі носять високі шапки, з прикрасою зверху, Їх довга [верхня] одежа має застібки на грудях аж до пояса, пів-рукави і дуже високий комір. В бою вони здебільшого користуються луком та шаблею»
