Object history The present work is a study for the 1918 oil painting Krasavitsa, now part of the collection of the Tula Museum of Fine Arts. The nude merchant's wife in her bedroom was among Kustodiev's favourite subjects. Etkind (1982) lists four versions in oil painted between 1915 and 1921.
