Summary edit

Description Landing mishap of a Curtiss SB2C-1 Helldiver of Bombing Squadron 17 (VB-17) from Carrier Air Group 17 (CVG-17) aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) in 1943. The SB2C suffered from a lot of design failures and required some 800 changes before becoming fully operational. The crews therefore gave the aircraft names like "The Big-Tailed Beast" or simply "The Beast". Note that the Bunker Hill seems to be equipped only with the SC radar and not yet with the SK-1.
