DescriptionSBD-3 VB-3 Midway Bottomley 1942.jpg | A U.S. Navy Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless of bombing squadron VB-3 pictured in flight with Lt. Harold S. Bottomley, Jr., and AMM2c Daniel F. Johnson aboard. It is the same aircraft they flew during the Battle of Midway in June 1942 from the aircraft carriers USS Yorktown (CV-5) and USS Enterprise (CV-6), although it was then marked "B-10". Bottomley and Johnson participated in the successful attacks on the Japanese carriers Soryu and Hiryu on 4 June 1942, flying "B-10". |
