Description
English: First Factory for the SIGAL-Galvano-Aluminium built 1988 in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne - a former subsidiary of Interatom GmbH.
Deutsch: Am Kohleforschungsinstitut, heute Max-Planck-Institut in Mülheim an der Ruhr, wurde in den 1950er Jahren eine technische Lösung gefunden, die erst 1980 von Siemens aufgegriffen wurde. Sie wurde für den großtechnischen Einsatz weiterentwickelt und ist heute unter dem Namen SIGAL (Siemens Galvano Aluminium) bekannt. Eine erste Produktionsanlage in 1988 wurde nach kurzer Zeit - 1991 - aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen wieder geschlossen. Das SIGALVerfahren wurde wegen des zunehmenden Einsatzes von Aluminium im Automobilbau durch Prof. H. Lehmkuhl am MPI in Mülheim an der Ruhr weiterentwickelt.
