English: Abundant plant about 8 inches to 18 inches in height with burrs that travel along with puppies and socks during the late summer early autumn months picture taken on the sandy beaches of the South Saskatchewan river near Saskatoon. A similar picture is located in A field guide to wildflowers: Northeastern and North-central North America By Roger Tory Peterson, Margaret McKenny an is identified as a Cocklebur beach clotbur sea burdock and the closest species appears to be the Xanthium echinatum or the Xanthium strumarium as in the reference book Summer & Fall Wildflowers of New England By Marilyn J.
