Description
English: From the permanent exhibition about World War II in the ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Center in Kristiansand, Norway:
  • SS-Ehrendolch' ('"SS honour dagger"), an honour weapon worn with the uniform of the SS (Schutzstaffel), a major paramilitary organisation under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Nazi Germany, and later throughout German-occupied Europe during World War II. This knife has belonged to Rudolf Kerner (1910 – 1998), a German SS-Hauptsturmführer and crime commissioner serving as head of the German Security Police and Gestapo in Kristiansand, Norway, from 1941.

ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Centre:

The Brennpunkt Arkivet: Occupation, Resistance, Captivity, and Collaboration in Agder 1940-1945 is a permanent exhibition situated in the basement, which served as the headquarters of the Gestapo and witnessed harsh interrogations during World War II.

SS dagger. This was Gestapo chief Rudolf Kerner's personal SS dagger. Several years after the war, the dagger was found buried in the garden outside the residence that Kerner had requisitioned at Bellevue 21 in Kristiansand.
