Description

Soviet WW2 era Tank Destroyer Designer:- L.I.Gorlitskiy Manufacturer:- Ural Heavy Machine Factory (UZTM) Built:- 1944 to 1945 Total Production:- 2,335 (original production run) In Service:- 1944 to current Main Armament:- 100mm D-10S anti-tank gun. Developed from the SU-85 to accommodate the larger 100mm anti-tank gun. The front armour was also increased from 45mm to 75mm. Although withdrawn from Soviet use in 1957, the type remains in current service in the Middle East, Vietnam and North Korea. This example saw Egyptian Army service until captured by Israeli forces. It was purchased from Israel by Robs Lamplough and then shipped to Duxford, where it became part of the Imperial War Museum collection during 1977. It is maintained in running condition and is seen on display in the Land Warfare Hall at Duxford Airfield, Cambridgeshire, UK.
