My 2012 ends where it began - Las Vegas. To avoid the crowds and the stress, I am welcoming the year 2013 from the roof of my timeshare condo, alongside 100 or so fellow guests. Here is a look west from my condo located at the north end of the Strip. Sahara Boulevard, named after the hotel that closed in 2011, stretches west toward Mt. Charleston. In the foreground are a parking garage and the RV park, both belonging to Circus Circus, one of the few Las Vegas properties that have child-friendly amenities. A bit in the distance, just beyond I-15, is Palace Station, one of several "Station" casinos throughout Las Vegas, which are more affordable, locals-oriented alternatives to the glitzy Strip resorts. During this visit, I frequented Palace Station both for its cheap buffets and for its gambling action. |
