English: This absolutely massive and very beautiful Cathedral seen from the Western Triforium Gallery, 60ft above the floor.
This view never gets old, and neither does the beauty of the Cathedral; the main body being built in 38 years, and so it maintains a stylistic unity unseen almost anywhere else in the medieval world. The Cathedral is of course best known for it's huge spire, which reaches 404ft (123m); making it the tallest church in the United Kingdom, and despite fires, it survives as the 5th tallest medieval building in the world. Free entry, and a stunning building; it does cost £10k per day to run, so please do give generously if you go! |
