| Description |
English: Sandstone Strata. The ribs of rock on the foreshore are beds of sandstone laid down some 350 million years ago, and later tilted to an angle of about 20º to the horizontal. Note the continuation of the fault in 938257 showing as an offset and gap in the left-hand ridge. In the next ridge the gap is smaller, and by the fourth ridge it has disappeared altogether. This shows that the fault occurred during the deposition of the sandstones, and was covered over by later beds as they were deposited on top of it. |
