Summary edit

Description
English: Sandstone boulders The edge of the plateau is marked by a steep escarpment comprising tumbled boulders of sandstone. Even on this scale the striations caused by erosion of the original bedding features are obvious in the frost-shattered outcrop. The sandstones belong to the Cwm Eigiau formation, of Ordovician age and named after this area where it is exposed particularly well. The sandstones were formed during an erosive interlude in the long history of volcanism in the area about 450 million years ago.
