Современные исследователи предполагают автором портрета одного из братьев Колокольниковых — Мину Лукича, состоявшего в .,живописной команде" Канцелярии от строений.

С.Я. Яковлев (Собакин. 1713-I784 — крупный промышленник и откупщик. Простой осташковский мещанин, он пришел в столицу „с полтиною в кармане" и быстро нажил миллионное состояние.

Владел железоделательными заводами на Урале и полотняными фабриками в Ярославской губернии, имел также винные откупа. В 1761 году Яковлев получил чин коллежского асессора, что давало ему права потомственного дворянства. Был известен своей жестокостью и самодурством: неугодных ему „маленьких людей" избивал или держал на цепи. Предание гласит, что пожертвованный им в петербургскую церковь Спаса на Сенной 500-пудовый колокол с языком, запертым на замок, мог звонить только с разрешения жертвователя.
