| Description |
English: After the Great Northern Railway was completed through the Cascade Mountains in 1893, travelers could venture into the wilderness more easily. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a small resort settlement grew up at Scenic Hot Springs, just west of Stevens Pass. Some tourists visited the nearby waterfall and hot springs while others fished for trout in area lakes. Around 1928, the railroad tracks were rerouted through the site of the hotel to the mouth of the new Cascade Tunnel.
This 1890s photo shows the hotel at Scenic Hot Springs. The lower right corner of the original glass negative is broken.
