Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui & Bunkamura Theatre Cocoon - Pluto Nederlands: In 2011 bracht Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in de multimediale voorstelling ‘TeZuka’ hulde aan manga-icoon Osamu Tezuka. Daarin was de centrale figuur Astro Boy. In januari 2015 bewerkte Cherkaoui de manga ‘Pluto’, een 'reboot' van Tezuka’s ‘The Greatest Robot on Earth’ door tekenaar Naoki Urasawa. Deze megaproductie met tekst, muziek, dans en manga bestond uit een volledig Japanse cast. Nu komt ‘Pluto’ eindelijk naar Europa… en naar deSingel. Het verhaal borduurt voort op dat van Astro Boy, maar de focus ligt meer op Pluto, de zogenaamde slechterik. ‘Pluto’ gaat in wezen over de omgang met verandering en verlies. En, belangrijker nog, over de kracht van vergeving. Een centraal thema bij Cherkaoui: “Vergiffenis schenken is soms heel moeilijk. Het lezen van ‘Pluto’ heeft me geleerd om dat toch te proberen.” Een voorstelling met een boodschap dus. Maar u kan ook gewoon genieten van verbluffende visuals en de vier meter hoge Pluto-robot. Français : En 2011, dans le spectacle multimédia « TeZuka », Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui rendait hommage à Osamu Tezuka, figure emblématique des mangas. Astro Boy en était le personnage principal. En janvier 2015, Cherkaoui a réalisé une adaptation du manga « Pluto », une reprise par le dessinateur Naoki Urasawa de l'histoire « Le robot le plus puissant du monde » de Tezuka. La distribution de cette mégaproduction associant les textes, la musique, la danse et les mangas était entièrement japonaise. À présent, « Pluto » est enfin visible en Europe… et à deSingel. Le récit propose une suite de l'histoire d'Astro Boy, mais en mettant davantage l'accent sur le « méchant » Pluton. En fait, « Pluto » parle de l'attitude envers le changement et la perte et – ce qui est plus important encore – de la force du pardon. C'est un thème essentiel pour Cherkaoui : « Pardonner est parfois très difficile. Lire “Pluto” m'a appris à le tenter malgré tout. » Ce spectacle comporte donc un message, mais vous pouvez aussi profiter sans plus de ses images époustouflantes et du Pluton robotisé de quatre mètres de haut. English: In 2011 Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui paid tribute to the manga icon Osamu Tezuka in the multimedia performance ‘TeZuka’. In it the central figure was Astro Boy. In January 2015, Cherkaoui adapted the manga ‘Pluto’, a ‘reboot’ of Tezuka’s ‘The Greatest Robot on Earth’ by the artist Naoki Urasawa. This is a central theme in Cherkaoui’s work: ‘Forgiveness is sometimes very difficult. Reading ‘Pluto’ taught me that I should give it a try.’ Consequently, this is a performance with a message. But you can also simply enjoy the stunning visuals and the four-meter-high Pluto robot. |
