Erstausgabe (Erstdruck); Buchdeckel 17 x 10 cm; auf dem Vorsatz rechts oben handschriftlicher Besitzervermerk des Goetheforschers "Gustav von Löper, Unruhstadt, 15. Mai 1855" in kleiner Gelehrtenschrift; Identifikation des Druckes: Die Seiten 69, 163 und 204 sind falsch paginiert, zwei Druckfehler auf Seite 65 ("lansch" statt lausch, "grossrr" statt grosser).

Ohne Nennung von Autor und Verleger. Gedruckt in einer Auflage von 800 Exemplaren auf Kosten des jungen Schillers, der ein Darlehen von 150 Gulden dafür aufnehmen musste. Wegen des schleppenden Verkaufs als Lesedrama wurde der größere Teil makuliert. Erst die Mannheimer Uraufführung Januar 1782 machte das Stück auf einen Schlag populär. Einer der seltensten Erstdrucke der deutschen Literatur. Provenienz: Sammlung Adam, Auktion Dr. Tenner Heidelberg 03.11.1981, Katalog-Nr. 430 mit Abbildung auf Tafel XVII.
