McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest, in 1909 the two-masted schooner Louise S. was run aground at Pillar Point with a hole in its hull. Captain L.B. McCoy, along with his wife and young daughter, was on his way to deliver lumber and hardware to the Clallam Coal Company mine when his ship was caught in a strong tide in the lower Puget Sound. Two days after the wreck, Captain McCoy had repaired the hull and continued his errand.
