Description

At this time, the Schwebebahn was out of action- it was closed between 1985 and 1992 for repairs. The elaborate Jugendstil lettering is duplicated by something more functional at a jaunty angle on the concrete pole which has not survived. This overhead railway opened in 1901, six years after the nearby Standseilbahn cable railway on rails Technical details here The railway has been a listed monument since 1975.

At this time the Schwebebahn lettering had not been gilded.
