Description
English: Sea-buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides on Samphire Hoe, Kent. Sea-buckthorn was one of the first shrubs to colonise the Hoe. It is widely planted to stabilise dunes and has long thorns which protect it from grazing animals. The bitter berries were gathered to make jelly for fish dishes.
