Summary edit

Description

Yale Ave. E., corner of Republican Street, in the Cascade neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA. 401–405 Yale Ave. E. on this corner was the site of a grocery or convenience store from the time it was built in 1924 by Beeman & Erickson until it was abandoned around 2000. The building also contained three 3-room apartments (the Department of Neighborhoods site linked below says eight apartments, but it's clearly wrong). Earl Roberts was the original architect.

View here is along Republican Street.

As of 2007, the fate of this building is uncertain. East of it, across Yale Ave E is St. Spiridon Russian Orthodox Cathedral; there is concern that a larger building on this site would dwarf the cathedral.

See Summary for 401- 5 Yale AVE / Parcel ID 6849200095, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods for more about 401–405 Yale Ave. E.

St. Spiridon's is an official city landmark.
