During deconstruction/renovation in 1939.
Cheasty's Haberdashery, 1101 Second Avenue, Seattle, Washington, 1909. The entire building on Second Avenue was a single store. Owner Edward Camano Cheasty was a prominent Seattle businessman; he died in 1914 at the age of 50. The building itself was built in 1899 by Cyrus Walker; the top 2 floors were added in 1902 by architects Boone & Corner. In 1921 Washington Mutual Savings Bank purchased the building and remodeled the ground floor, with Cheasty's relocating to the second floor. The building underwent a major remodel in 1939 which involved the removal of the top 3 floors and the building being sheathed in a new terracotta and granite art deco skin designed by C.E. Merriam.
