Summary edit

Description

Part of plate Plate 1E, Kroll's Atlas of Seattle, 1920, showing Pike Place Market. This is the old street configuration prior to the construction of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The most dramatic difference from today (besides the viaduct) is the presence of Armory Way. Also, note the footbridge at Pike (on the site of the current Pike Hill Climb) connecting the Market to the piers. Note in particular that it crossed Railroad Avenue (now Alaskan Way).

The northward continuation of Armory Way can be seen at Image:Seattle - map - Armory Way northwest of Lenora Street 1920.jpg; there is a slight gap between the two.

This is a raw image of a plastic-covered document: some reflections and also some shadow.
