Description |
English: When Broadway High School (originally Seattle High School) was built in 1902, Seattle some residents complained that it was too large and a waste of public money. By 1904 the school had 1,700 students, and the building was already crowded. The school closed in June 1946 and re-opened in September 1946 as Edison Technical College. Today the building's auditorium is a part of Seattle Central Community College, and the site is once again used by some district students. This portrait of the Broadway High School Mandolin Club includes such instruments as acoustic guitars, lutes, mandolins, and a harp guitar. The Mandolin Club was an extracurricular group for students until 1906.
