Text Appearing Before Image: interruptedin the middle by a marble platform,leads directly to the Taj, which risesin all its peerless beauty at the end,and is mirrored in the water below.The cypresses which lined the vistahave been lately removed, as the sizeto which they had grown obstructedthe view of the Taj, but others havebeen planted, and will take theirplace in the scene in due course. Thetrees of the garden generally havealso been wisely thinned, and nowadmit of endless beautiful views andpeeps of the marble dome, the marblewalls and the marble minarets,which can be enjoyed at leisure fromthe seats placed about the gardens.Very fine views are also obtained fromthe top of the great gate and from thehalls in the centre of the side walls.Along the S. wall on either side ofthe great gate is an extremely finepillared gallery of red sandstone. Thebeauty of the Taj is perhaps mostperfect immediately after sunset, orunder the moonlight ; but everychange of light seems to lend newgraces to it. Those who linger for
