Description
English: Sennen Cove

A rapidly executed sketch showing the effects of waves close to the Cornish coast. It adopts an aerial perspective view from which to show the waves. They are reduced to rhythmic rows with thick impasto paint applied to create the crests of the waves. This formalistic approach indicates the darker colour as blocked shapes. Following the end of World War I, Everett went to Helston in Cornwall from 28 January 1919. He then moved on to Porthleven before renting a studio at Sennen. He selected it for its good view of the sea and stayed there until 11 May. The painting is inscribed 'Sennen' verso.

Public domain

The author died in 1949, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929.

The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
