Legend has it that whole Pešter plateau region was once a big lake. A great three-headed dragon used to live there, and it was slain by Saint George. During the fight, in its death throe, the dragon truncated the forest, and the whole mountain with its tail. Cold spring water, came through that way when St. George slammed his sword into a stone before the fight. That's how these beautiful meanders came to be.

Others would say that this breathtaking view of the famous Uvac meanders was created back in 1979 when the river dam was built and hydroelectric power plants were put into operation.

Whichever story is true, this is truly a magical place.
