English: Shaldon Bridge - commemorative stone This stone commemorates the opening of this bridge in 1827 between Shaldon village and town of Teignmouth. It is set in the wall at the northern end of the bridge close to the tollhouse.
The wording states: This bridge was Projected and Designed by and Executed under the direction of ROGER HOPKINS Civil Engineer and Mineral Surveyor. and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Opened 8th June 1827. |
