English: Shambler's Wharf, Arctic Road The home of E Cole & Sons (Cowes) Ltd, ship repairers. The arch contains a beam engine driving a slipway haulage winch that could pull vessels up to about 700 tons. Although there was a chimney, the engine latterly ran on compressed air. It has now been removed. |
