English: Page of the Bible composed by Abraham Sheares of Exeter (1710 - 1731) that presents the Spanish Armada of 1588 as a providential victory of Protestants over Catholics.
The text says: "For in five hundred Eighty eight [1588] when Elizab[eth] Queen did Reaigne, the wicked Spanyers did atemt and brought a fleet from Speain. This time did our GOD apeare In maricell and wonder, he sonk theire might fleet adoune and drove the Rest asunder. From the beginin god is ye same in everye generashon, and shewed forth his tender love unto ye Queen and nashon. For our God is terabell unto his Ennimies, how shuld hee then be gloryefied through out all time and dayes.
