English: Shepperton Lock, River Thames A confusing jumble of water channels and islands exists in this area. Boats coming from the River Wey will emerge from he far left, where they will hae entered what is effectively the backwater of one of the Thames weir streams. Behind us is the main route of the Thames downstream to London, while the bottom gates of Shepperton Lock are in the centre of the picture. The yachtsman who is not familiar with the area is advised to make sure he has a reliable chart. |
