Description Lot 11559-6: Atlantic Convoys. A ship in convoy during an actual attack by enemy shellfire and bombs. Escorting Royal Navy warships laid smoke screens when the German guns on the French coast fired 80 shells in 80 minutes as the convoy went through the narrowest part of the Straits. Shells from the German battery on the French coast falling harmlessly all around the ships of the convoy, possible 1941. Office of War Information photograph, 7894-ZE. (2016/01/29).
