Description
English: Shipwreck of the St Jago, the ship of Admiral Fernando de Mendoza, of Portugal. The ship was lost at the Bassas de India between Madagascar and the continent of Soffala. The ship sailed from Portugal in 1585. News of the tragedy reached the Archbishop of Goa in May 1586.Taken from the book The tragedy of the seas; or, Sorrow on the ocean, lake, and river, from shipwreck, plague, fire and famine published (1848). First published 1841.
