Description

The Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester) contains a collection of textile machines that demonstrate the whole process used in a Cotton mill, and a few key eighteenth century machines.

A representative Lancashire loom weaving grey cloth, a coarse 16 count suitable for the sofa manufacturing industry. The weft stop mechanism allowed upto 6 looms to be tentered by one weaver. It has been retrofitted with an electric motor, and is used daily for 2 min demonstrations (2013).
