Français : Différents types d'obus shrapnels fabriqués et abondamment utilisés lors de la Première guerre mondiale. Ces obus conçus pour exploser au dessus des tranchées en propulsant plusieurs centaines de billes de plomb dans toutes les directions ont été, et sont encore, source d'une pollution généralisée des champs de bataille par le plomb et le mercure (fulminate de mercure des amorces ; non biodégradables ni dégradable).
English: shrapnel shell, first world war. (Lead and mercury of those shells were an important source of pollution during this war and after.
