English: Shropshire Union Canal at High Onn, Staffordshire. Attractive private moorings are here by a property on the left. Beyond the bridge is a wharf and warehouse, by which some burning is producing white smoke. The bridge is High Onn Bridge, No 25. The canal was opened in 1835 as the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal, engineered by Thomas Telford. The view back from the bridge, and some interesting facts can be seen here: 444830. |
