| Description |
In 1703 maakte Tsaar Peter de Grote gebruik van zijn eigen ontwerp om zijn eerste schip voor de nieuwe Russische Marine te bouwen. Op 24 maart in dat jaar werd in St. Petersburg de kiel gelegd van het fregat “Shtandart” en de totale bouw van het schip duurde niet langer dan 5 maanden. De Tsaar werd zelf de eerste kapitein op het schip dat 16 jaar dienst deed als vlaggenschip van de Russische Marine. 300 jaar later, op 4 november 1994, werd in St. Petersburg de kiel gelegd voor de bouw van een exacte kopie van dat schip. In 1999 werd de replica te water gelaten. |
