Description
English: Sick and Dying- Cholera Lines - Thai-burma Railway, 1943

image: A camp on the Thai-Burma Railway. A group of five emaciated men stand around bamboo stretchers lying on the ground, each containing the corpse of a cholera victim tightly wrapped and bound in a cloth. On the right a sick man sits up on a bed, another man seated behind him, under the awning of a tent. To the right of this a severely malnourished man stands, facing right, dressed in a ragged pair of shorts and boots. Behind the stretcher and to the right of another tent a naked man, stooping, walks with the aid of two poles. To the far right stands another prisoner, wearing patched trousers and with a cigarette in his mouth, holding a mug and mess tin in his

hands.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
