Description
English: Marble head of an unidentified Roman woman (from a distinguished family) with a curly toupee, 80-100 CE. Assigned as 3rd party ownership in 1947 CE. Altes Museum, Berlin, Germany. Follows the hairstyle of Julia, daughter of Emperor Titus. The elaborate curly toupee frames the forehead. Behind the curls, the hair is braided in plaits that originally had been gathered in a nest at the back of the head.
