Summary edit

Description
English: The market was built and designed in 1904 by Bomanjee Maneckjee for Sultan Ali bin Hamud. It is one of the few things that has remained constant in Zanzibar's somewhat turbulent history. It has many times been expanded and restored, but has never changed in function or ownership as so many of these heritage sites have.
