Description
English: Sign for the George and Pilgrims The inn was founded by the Benedictine community as a guest house for pilgrims to the local shrine. Their abbey was destroyed by Henry VIII at the time of the Dissolution and the guest house became an inn, originally named after St George. The 'Pilgrims' was added to the inn name at a later date.
