Suomi: Veturien vesitorni Simolan rautatieasemalla. Jatkosodan aikana 19.–20. kesäkuuta 1944 Neuvostoliiton ilmavoimat pommitti kolmeen otteeseen Simolan rautatieasemaa ja Etu-Simolan pysäkkiä. Pommituksessa kuoli ainakin 142 ihmistä, heistä noin puolet oli siviilejä ja loput sotilaita, virkailijoita ja neuvostoliittolaisia sotavankeja. 15 taloa paloi ja 23 vaurioitui.
Pommituksen jäljet näkyvät yhä vesitornissa, joka on säilytetty uhrien muistomerkkinä. |
