Rond 1863 werd in Opwijk een nieuwe straat aangelegd om onder andere de jaarlijkse processie een betere rondgang te verlenen: de Processiestraat. De kerkfabriek en enkele privépersonen brachten geld samen om een grote kapel te bouwen in de knik van de straat. De Sint-Annakapel werd in 1870 ingewijd als bidkapel met een altaar en een twintigtal stoelen. Restauratie begon in 2010. Around 1863 a new road was built in Opwijk to provide a better tour for the annual procession: the Procession Street. The church council and some individuals collected enough money to build a large chapel in the bend of the road. St. Anne's Chapel was consecrated in 1870 as a prayer chapel with an altar and twenty seats. Restoration began in 2010. |
