| Description |
English: Sir Walter Scott Tablet at Langlee. This stone tablet dedicated to Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was rebuilt into this wall when the new Langlee housing estate was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s on the north side of the Melrose Road. In Scott's day the road to Abbotsford with the Eildon Hills in view would have been devoid of buildings. I wonder what he would think about the scene now with two sprawling housing schemes either side of the road comprising of some 1200 houses. |
