English: Site of Roman dam, near Littlewood Farm, Frampton On leaving the eastern end of Metlands Wood this information board describes the historical details of the Roman dam and reservoir that used to exist in this valley. The reservoir was at the head of the Roman aqueduct, built by the engineers of the Second Augusta Legion, in order to supply Roman Dorchester (Durnovaria) with clean water. |
