Description
English:
Six Franciscan monks look on as five others play croquet at Mission Santa Barbara, ca.1904
Photograph of six Franciscan monks looking on as five others play a game of croquet at Mission Santa Barbara, ca.1904. They all wear habits. Hoops and several balls are arrayed on the dirt playing field. A hat lays on the ground at right. The six are preparing vegetables in their laps, sitting on chairs in some thick ground cover vegetation. A long picket fence runs behind the them on the other side of which is the mission. Several trees are also in the background. Mountains rise in the distance.
