Image title | WASHINGTON, DC (May 28, 2005--DC Fireboat 3 sits alongside a sailboat that initially capsized, but was righted on May 28. Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel 24999 was first on-scene and worked with the fireboat a number of times during a two-hour period to help assist a large number of people from the water. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and DC Fire and Police boats recovered a total of 37 people from the water during a two hour period on that day, when unexpected gusts of high winds, caused more than 20 vessels to capsize on the Potomac River in the Washington, DC area.
