Summary edit
DescriptionSmith Center for the Performing Arts, Las Vegas, NV.jpg |
English: The Smith Center was constructed in 2012 in order to house several cultural institutions around the Las Vegas area. Based on the architecture and detailing of local landmarks including the Hoover Dam and old Las Vegas High School, the Smith Center is a LEED-certified building that harkens back to the 1920s and 1930s in its design, fit, and finish. In addition, inspiration was drawn from other Art Deco structures across the Southwest, including the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, which has a similar tower. The building’s high quality design and fit and finish are in stark contrast to most modern architecture found in the region, and is a beautiful reminder that we can, in fact, still build buildings that have tasteful grace and class. |
