Summary edit

Description
English: Snape Pool, Croome Park Snape Pool was created by the National Trust in 2004 and is not yet shown on OS maps. The pool was dug to capture and filter water from the M5 motorway which passes nearby. The National Trust has undertaken the project of returning Croome Landscape Park, as near as possible, to its original state in the 18th century. The park is centred around Croome River, effectively a lake created by 'Capability' Brown, this has involved returning the surrounding land to grazing pasture, from arable, and thereby reducing the levels of nitrates and artificial fertilisers entering the lake. A major challenge is the M5 which passes through the park and every time it rains various pollutants are wash off the motorway, and this pool through the use of reedbeds filters the water before it flows into the Croome River. This area of Croome Park is not normally open to the public and this visit was organised with the Friends of Croome Park, see: http://www.friendsofcroomepark.org.uk/.
