English: Soggy camping below Manish Beg Despite a fairly late Easter, our planned four-day trip circumnavigating Raasay and Rona was beset by force 4 to 5 winds, rain, and an island with a water table often above the surface. This was our first night's camping spot after paddling up the west side of Raasay. Tent spots could be dryish if steeply sloping and lumpy, flattish if heathery, or well-drained but impossible for pegs. Various personal choices were made and we survived to paddle again on the next, even wetter and windier, day. I recall this is one of the few evenings sea kayaking when we didn't manage to have a fire. |
